  • What is a forklift truck? A forklift truck is a powered industrial vehicle used to lift and move loads using a pair of forks or other attachments. It is equipped with lifting media made up of a mast and an elevating load carriage that can raise loads 900 mm or more above the ground. This definition does not include pedestrian-operated trucks or pallet trucks. Forklift trucks are widely used in warehouses, logistics, construction, and manufacturing settings.
  • What does this licence cover? This high-risk work licence (class LF) allows you to legally operate a forklift truck in Australia. It includes both high-reach and counterbalance forklifts with a lifting capacity of at least 1000 kg. The licence is issued by WorkSafe Victoria (or your relevant state regulator) after you complete the required training and pass the licence assessment.
  • Can I operate order pickers with this licence? No. The LF (forklift) licence does not cover the operation of order-picking forklifts (also known as stock pickers or turret trucks). To operate these machines, you need a LO licence, which is a separate high-risk work licence class specifically for order pickers where the operator is lifted with the load.
  • Can I do this course without prior forklift experience? Yes. The course is suitable for both beginners and those with some experience. However, you will need to meet the course selection criteria, including language, literacy, numeracy, and digital skills.
  • Do I get my licence immediately after the course? Not immediately. After you successfully complete both the unit of competency and the WorkSafe licence assessment, you will receive a Notice of Assessment (NOA) by email. You must then lodge your NOA through the MyWorkSafe portal or at Australia Post within 60 days and pay the required licence fee. WorkSafe will issue the physical licence card after that process.
  • Can I do the course on weekends or part-time? We may offer weekend or customised delivery options depending on availability and demand. If the standard 2-day or 3-day options do not suit you, talk to us — we’re happy to explore alternatives with you.
