To enrol, you must:
Be 18 years or older
Able use English and maths for safety, training, and assessment – reading, writing, communicating. Complete a Language, Literacy, Numeracy and digital (LLND) skills assessment (or discuss your LLND capability with us so we can review it to ensure you are enrolling in a suitable course)
Be in good health and fitness
Reside in Victoria, or have valid reasons for applying for a licence there
Hold a valid visa to study with us (if not an Australian or New Zealand citizen or permanent resident)

What is a slewing mobile crane?
A slewing mobile crane is a crane with a boom or jib that is capable of being slewed, i.e. rotate 360 degrees. Slewing mobile crane does not include:
A front-end loader, or
a backhoe, or
an excavator, or
other earth moving equipment, when configured for crane operation.
What does this licence allow me to do?
The C6 high-risk work licence allows you to operate:
slewing mobile cranes with a capacity of 60 tonnes or less; and
non-slewing mobile cranes; and
reach stackers; and
vehicle loading cranes that have a capacity of 10 metre tonnes or more (but does not include the application of load estimation and slinging techniques to move a load using a vehicle loading crane); and
Once licensed, you can perform lifts in construction, logistics, mining, and other industries where slewing mobile cranes are commonly used. It also covers the use of crane attachments such as winches and jibs.
Does the C6 licence cover cranes above 60 tonnes?
No. The C6 licence only covers slewing mobile cranes up to 60 tonnes. If you want to operate cranes with higher capacities, you will need a separate licence such as the C1 (up to 100 tonnes) or C0 (over 100 tonnes).
Can I do this course without prior crane experience?
Yes. The course is suitable for both beginners and those with some experience. However, you will need to meet the course selection criteria, including language, literacy, numeracy, and digital skills.
Do I get my licence immediately after the course?
Not immediately. After you successfully complete both the unit of competency and the WorkSafe licence assessment, you will receive a Notice of Assessment (NOA) by email. You must then lodge your NOA through the MyWorkSafe portal or at Australia Post within 60 days and pay the required licence fee. WorkSafe will issue the physical licence card after that process.
Can I do the course on weekends or part-time?
We may offer weekend or customised delivery options depending on availability and demand. If the standard 4-day or 5-day options do not suit you, talk to us — we’re happy to explore alternatives with you.
