1. What is a confined space?
A confined space is an enclosed or partially enclosed area that:
Examples include tanks, pits, vaults, silos, crawl spaces, sewers and some machinery housings.
2. What does this course allow me to do?
Completing RIIWHS202E – Enter and work in confined spaces allows you to:
Note: This unit does not authorise you to issue permits or act as a confined space supervisor or operate breathing apparatus—those require additional units.
3. Is this a licence?
No. Confined space training is not a high-risk work licence.
Instead, it is a nationally recognised unit of competency required by many workplaces to perform confined space tasks safely and legally.
4. Can I do this course without prior work experience?
Yes. The course is suitable for both beginners and those with some experience. However, you will need to meet the course selection criteria, including language, literacy, numeracy, and digital skills.
5. How long is the certification valid?
While the unit itself does not formally “expire”, many organisations require refresher training every 12–24 months, particularly for confined space entry and standby roles.
6. Can I do the course on weekends?
We may offer weekend or customised delivery options depending on availability and demand. If the standard 1-day course option do not suit you, talk to us — we’re happy to explore alternatives with you.
