Getting your forklift licence can provide many options. It is surprising that many forklift students don’t think about their career path as forklift driver at the time of getting their forklift licence. There are many career options available to forklift licence holders and here we have prepared a list of few career path examples that some people may like to take after getting their forklift licence:

Forklift Licence Trainer

As the demand for forklift operators increases so does the need for people to train the forklift drivers and issue forklift licence. Forklift trainers require additional training and this may very from state to state.

Forklift Mechanic

To become a forklift mechanic it is mendatory that you posses a forklift licence. Moreover, you need a passion for mechanics and a bit of further study, a qualified Forklift Mechanic is a great career option. Paying around 50k – 60k per year with plenty of jobs available this option becomes very attractive. The forklift mechanic position involves primarily field service repairs and normally you will need to specialise in all different forklift technologies such as IC (diesel ,LPG) and IE (battery electric) forklift trucks. You may also need a very good understanding of hydraulic, good general mechanical skills and, of course, good communication skills.

Specilised Forklift Driver

There are options to specialise with respect to attachments, forklift load capacity etc -– certainly you will need to get forklift training and a licence to work with forklifts with greater capacities. LO forklift licence is required if you wish to operate an order picker forklift. In general, forklifts can be used for everything else but order picking. The LF class forklift licence is more in demand due to wider use. However, if you wish to peruse career in order picking, you should go for LO forklift licence.
